Whales were being hunted to extinction, primarily for lamp oil. They were saved not by some tree hugger or a “well-intentioned” politician. No, they were saved by the greed of Rockefeller, who developed a way to make kerosene cheaper than whale oil.
Freedom, in the form of capitalism and individual liberty, will always find the best solution. Not a “perfect” solution to some, but always the least-worse solution. Always.
