There are dozens of industries in America that don't have the resources, mills or factories to build the products we need. America has regulated their industries to death (literally) those that could move to better tax climes did so. No one to blame but ourselves. We did this. 70 to 80% of Canada goods come from us. Not any more. Distributors are cancelling orders, and looking for other more reliable supply chains. We will pay the price. Now and later on. It takes 7 times the effort to win back the pissed off customer. Marketing 101. Once new supply chains are forged Canada will continue to use them. We shit the bed and then set fire to it.
Oh well we can bring jobs back to the States. Well it will take a minimum of 5 years to move a car plant. Ten years for a Nuke plant to be built. Nuke generators take an enormous amount of rare and exotic metals to build. The wait time is not years, but decades. But no, lets kick Canada again in the nuts. Then where are we going to buy Uranium? Russia? China? Africa? No no lets kick Canada in the nuts just because we can. Gee, they are one of the few easy sources of nuke fuel we know of.
We don't have enough copper, aluminum, iron, or steel resources to build the stuff we want. But lets kick our Canadian neighbors in the nuts, just because we can.
We buy 4 million barrels of oil a day from Canada because we can't produce enough of it. Our western refineries NEED heavy crude from Alberta. They are designed for that. That is why we build pipelines directly to them.
Now lets talk about power needs huh? America has brownouts every year due to under supply and inefficient infrastructure. Shitty govt have wasted money on DEI and climate insanity programs instead of upgrading old lines and substations. 5 year wait for substation parts. Custom built you know. But no, we will piss off Ontario with tariffs.
